Coach Kim Seung-gi, who leads professional basketball team Goyang Sono, says that the joy of being a coach is developing players classified as bench resources into starters.

Coach Kim, whom we met on the 14th in Taipei, Taiwan, the training camp, mentioned Lim Dong-seop, Jeong Hee-jae, and Choi Seung-uk who transferred to Sono and said, "I need to help them rise to the level of regular players. I also enjoy that process."

Sono, who failed to advance to the playoffs in the 2023-2024 season with a record of 20 wins and 34 losses, strengthened its team by bringing in forwards in the mid-190cm range, including Jeong Hee-jae, Choi Seung-wook, and Lim Dong-seop, ahead of the new season.

They are all considered 'quality' resources in the free agent (FA) market.

While bringing them in at the same time, Wonju DB's star forward Kang Sang-jae, who was originally under consideration for recruitment, was given up. This is because the intention is to operate the team from a long-term perspective rather than to strengthen the team's power immediately.

Coach Kim, who is leading the spring training, said, "The rotation is going well, especially in defense," and evaluated that the team's performance is improving, centered around players such as Jeong Hee-jae, Choi Seung-wook, and Lim Dong-seop.

Coach Kim said flatly that these players are not 'A-class players'. He added, 추천 "It's fun to take them up a level and make them into A-class players, and to make A-class players into special players."

Coach Kim said he was satisfied with being able to use them to devise various defensive tactics.

In fact, in two practice matches, the lineup consisting of Lee Jae-do, Lim Dong-seop, Choi Seung-uk, Jeong Hee-jae, and Alan Williams showed competitiveness in defense.

The Taiwanese teams had difficulty finding an offensive avenue due to the defensive blocking and the quick assist defense.

The 'specially great player' mentioned by coach Kim is ace Lee Jung-hyun.

Coach Kim said, "Given the circumstances of our team, we have to develop (the players) in that way. That way, we can achieve better results next season after this season ends." He added, "We will challenge ourselves next year. We will form a team next year that can take on the challenge."

Coach Kim's assessment of Sono's current strength is that he is qualified to advance to the top 6 PO. He believes that it is premature to talk about winning due to Sono's circumstances.

Still, he couldn't hide his desire to win, as expected from a gambler.

Coach Kim said, "We've put together a team that can fight for the top 6. Once we get to the top 6, we don't know what will happen in the playoffs," adding, "I've never stopped at the top 6 playoffs."
